Notas La obra fue dividida en dos partes por el artista, lo que en el caso particular de esta grafía permite afirmar que fue desestimada, aun cuando se encuentre firmada. Al tratarse de una grafía pictórica, en la que existe una relación entre texto –aquí expresado en un nuevo sistema de escritura– e imagen, al ser cortado el papel, el texto que encierra pierde la capacidad de ser leído. Al reunirlas no solo se pudo reconstruir la pintura sino que también se pudo apreciar que en el reverso se encuentra delineada en lápiz negro la misma grafía. Esto da una imagen invertida de la obra, lo que lleva a una forma de trabajo de Xul, conocida desde época temprana y que aparecerá más de una vez en su producción. Este método de trabajo también permite pensar que puede tratarse de un mecanismo que utilizaba el artista para realizar más de una versión de la obra lo más exacta posible.
