El precio indicado hace suponer que fue a comienzos de esa década ya que los libros de la Biblioteca filosófica de Editorial Losada, dirigida por Francisco Romero, rondaban ese valor. Al respecto, Ostrov tradujo para dicha editorial dos libros: de Víctor Brochard, Estudio sobre Sócrates y Platón, con prólogo de Romero (1940) y de Ugo Spirito, El pragmatismo de la filosofía contemporánea: ensayo crítico con apéndice bibliográfico (1945), este último se conserva en la biblioteca del artista. Ostrov, hoy más recordado por haber sido el primer terapeuta de Alejandra Pizarnik, sin embargo, fue activo partícipe de la actividad cultural en Buenos Aires desde comienzos de la década de 1930.
