AD-FPK_AXS_A Description An account of the resource En la producción de Xul Solar el dibujo es una práctica que resulta estructural a su obra pictórica: a partir de 1913-1914 él se constituye en el punto de partida para la elaboración de sus pinturas y, de hecho, en muchos casos sus delicadas acuarelas lo dejan traslucir. Además de los dibujos entendidos como obra acabada –tinta, grafito y lápiz graso–existen otros que presentan distintos estados de ejecución: desde una primera idea para una pintura, a bocetos y estudios más elaborados. En algunos casos es posible registrar una primera idea para una obra y confrontarla directamente con la obra finalizada. En otros casos, a partir de ellos, se puede identificar casi todo el camino transitado por el artista desde aquella primera idea, pasando por distintas etapas de elaboración, hasta llegar a la obra final. Si bien el soporte para muchos de sus dibujos es el papel de dibujo tradicional, muchos otros fueron realizados en pequeños carnets de apuntes y desde mediados de los años cuarenta, en cuadernos escolares de papel cuadriculado. En estos cuadernos, la página aparece potencializada al ser dividida vertical y horizontalmente: allí, cada uno de los cuadrantes resultantes se constituye en un espacio para trabajar sobre pequeños bocetos que, en algunos casos, se constituirán en el punto de partida para nuevas pinturas. Estos cuadernos son en realidad, uno de los registros más completos del trabajo creativo de un artista. No se trata de los simples cuadernos de apuntes que cuentan con una extensa tradición en el arte occidental. Ellos son el lugar privilegiado por Xul para volcar todo su potencial creativo que no encuentra límite alguno, más que aquél que le impone el cuadrante respectivo, generando en el potencial lector la clara percepción de un horror vacui.
