Notas En Pepé Rangi están representados Papa (la Tierra) y Rangi (el Cielo) y sus hijos. Pepé (probablemente se trate de una forma de pronunciación de las vocales) es Papa, quien aparece representada como una mujer que yace sobre la tierra, mientras que Rangi se despliega en forma de arco sobre ella y ocupa el cielo. A la altura de la cabeza de Pepé aparece la luna en creciente y sobre la espalda de Rangi, el sol. Sobre el vientre de Papa se ven sus cinco hijos, tres de los cuales hacen fuerza para romper la unión de sus padres. Aunque el mito se continúa, Xul eligió el momento más dramático de la narración para su pintura, un tema que con una iconografía muy similar aparece en Solar. Observaciones Al salir a subasta en 2000 se indicó que la obra contaba con una foto-certificado de autenticidad otorgado por Natalio J. Povarché.
