Proponemos 1920 pues es el año en que Xul la expuso en la Galleria Arte de Milán, en cuyo catálogo la obra apareció reproducida, una exposición que fue realizada por el artista a partir de una iniciativa de Pettoruti quien estableció el contacto con la Galería y fue quien se ocupó del seguimiento de la exposición antes de su apertura pues se encontraba en Milán, mientras que Xul estaba en Zoagli donde permaneció hasta poco antes de su apertura, además de haber escrito el prólogo para el catálogo. El título de la obra, Otra ofrenda cuori, refiere directamente a Ofrenda cuori (Cat. 38), pintura que efectivamente aparece datada por el artista en 1915. En el caso de la pintura aquí catalogada, la inscripción de la viuda realizada sobre la cartulina indica como año de ejecución 1915; sin embargo, tanto estilísticamente como por la paleta empleada ambas pinturas se distancian en el tiempo y por tal motivo proponemos una datación distinta a la asentada por la viuda, esto es ca. 1918. Es probable que Xul mismo se refiriese a ella como “otra ofrenda cuori” y luego Lita haya relacionado las dos obras y propuesto la misma fecha para ambas. Milán fue la ciudad donde Xul desarrolló uno de sus trabajos más ambiciosos al definir nuevos espacios de sociabilidad y religiosidad que cobraron cuerpo en el proyecto de edificios a partir de sus fachadas. Se trata de pinturas que despliegan sobre el plano todo su imaginario en el diseño de elementos arquitectónicos y de sus interiores, incluido su mobiliario, además de telas y vidrios coloreados. Este conjunto se complementa con sus diseños para objetos decorativos, “décoras”, todo un repertorio de formas y colores, como también de “estilos” que se suceden sin solución de continuidad y que tienen distintas funciones: frascos, floreros, platos, jarros, lámparas y arañas, y también objetos rituales, copas, relicarios y cálices, broches y prendedores.
